The Instant Pot makes cooking rice so much easier. This rice comes out perfect every time. I use organic white rice as a preference since rice is typically high in pesticides. I also like that it’s not enriched or fortified. Mahatma is probably the most affordable option and Walmart or Amazon usually has it.
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic white rice
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 tsp salt
Directions
- Pour 1 cup of white rice into your Instant Pot or pressure cooker along with 1 cup of water. If you want to make more than 1 cup of rice then you can increase this recipe as long as you keep the 1:1 ratio of rice to water.
- Add 1/4 tsp of salt for every cup of rice.
- Give the rice and water a little stir then put the lid on your pressure cooker and set it to the sealed position.
- Set your pressure cooker to 3 minutes of high pressure.
- Allow to naturally release for 10 minutes after the cook time is up then release any remaining pressure yourself.
- Mix the rise with your cooking utensil of choice and serve.
Notes & Tips
You do not need to adjust the pressure or cook times if you increase the amount of rice. Just make sure you keep the rice to water ratio 1:1.
I also found, at least in my Instant Pot, that I will get an error reading if I do less than 1 cup or go over 5 cups so be aware of what your pressure cooker can handle.
